Our Story

Two builders, one standard.

GCD — Grand Construction & Development — was co-founded in 2018 by Nicholas Moura and Marcel de Melo, two licensed builders who between them bring more than 20 years of combined hands-on construction experience across Brazil and Australia.

That distinction matters. GCD isn't a marketing company running jobs through subcontractors — Nicholas and Marcel are both licensed builders (QBCC 15253132, NSW 389790C) who still lead the team on site, on every job, from bathroom renovations to full new home builds.

The crew is genuinely international. Several of our carpenters moved to Australia from Brazil and New Zealand and trained up locally through Cert III and Cert IV Carpentry at TAFE QLD. We run two offices — Mermaid Waters, QLD and Lennox Head, NSW — covering the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.

Nicholas Moura

Co-Founder & Operational Director

Licensed builder with a Bachelor in Business & Administration from Brazil, Cert III Carpentry and Cert IV Building & Construction. Nicholas has built across Brazil and Australia, from residential jobs through to high-end architectural builds and large developments.
Marcel de Melo

Co-Founder & Director

15+ years of business experience and a licensed Gold Coast builder, holding Cert III Carpentry, Cert IV Building & Construction and a Diploma in Project Management. Marcel co-founded GCD in 2018 alongside Nicholas.
Riley Stack

Head Carpenter

In construction since he was 15. Riley completed his Cert III Carpentry in 2019 and now leads GCD's high-end and large-scale project teams on site.
Guilherme "Gui" Guedes

Carpenter

Holds a marketing degree from Brazil, moved to Australia in 2015 and completed his Cert III Carpentry through TAFE QLD.
Rayner

Carpenter

Moved to Australia in 2016 and completed his Cert III Carpentry in 2020, after previously studying Civil Engineering in Brazil.
Cam Butler

Carpenter

Started in construction in New Zealand in 2016 and joined the GCD team in 2023.
Rafael

Carpenter

Arrived in Australia in 2022 after more than 12 years in Brazil's metallurgical industry before moving into carpentry.
